A new Family Kitchen & Shop that brings a sustainable dining experience to families at London's famous botanical garden.

Architect: HOK

For: Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

"A real architectural must-visit for the whole family." Wallpaper Magazine

The Family Kitchen & Shop is an environmentally driven, educational food space for up to 250 visitors of all ages. It is a space where the wonder of nature is combined with an interactive food laboratory.

Engenuiti worked with the Architect to develop a visually expressed structure that was educational and elegant, as well as providing a key contribution to the natural feel of the interior space.

The exposed timber, both inside and out, also creates a connection to the natural world outside the eatery - vital to ensure that the restaurant incorporates seamlessly into its surroundings at Kew Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The project achieved BREEAM Excellent certification and reduced embodied carbon by over 50% compared to industry benchmarks.
