Our thinking

Graduate at Engenuiti

We have handed over to some of our recent graduates, so they can share their perspectives on the Engenuiti graduate programme to date.

Daisy and Archie have shared their thoughts below.

Daisy

I studied Civil and Architectural Engineering at the University of Bath, where there was a large emphasis on sustainable design. I applied to Engenuiti as I wanted to continue this type of learning and apply my values into real design. It is great to work with, and be mentored by, people who are positively impacting the construction industry.

Everyone here is so warm and welcoming making it easy to integrate. There are regular socials too which I love, as well as a mentoring system involving monthly coffee catch-ups.

I have been working on a few different small-scale projects, which allow me to get very involved in the design process and help me grow into a well-rounded engineer. I am excited to work on one of the many timber projects at Engenuiti, as this is something I am particularly interested in.

Although chartership is still a few years away there is a lot of guidance around it, making it less intimidating. The opportunities to start learning early and the advice I have already been given will definitely make it a smoother process in future.

I like the flexible working situation at Engenuiti, with adjustable working hours and a hybrid office/home working system, allowing everyone to choose a schedule more suited to them.

Archie

What was really great about starting at Engenuiti was that, within the first week, I was already starting to work on an active project involving mass timber. This may sound daunting, and it was at first, but feeling like a key part of the team from such an early stage helped to give me a feeling of pride in what I was doing and made me feel like I was making a difference.

I have been involved in a variety of different projects, in each of which I was able to learn something completely new which was always very rewarding. From early on, I started work on detailed timber connection design which involved a lot of drawing and hand calculations. Having not done much on connection design at university, it was certainly a steep learning curve, however, I received great support whenever I felt I needed it and so the tasks always felt achievable.

The people at Engenuiti are key to making it a great place to work, as the atmosphere is always supportive, friendly and fun! There are regular team drinks, socials, our famed fika break and who can forget the annual office study trip, which all help to give the office a tight-knit feel and have meant I have made some great friends along the way.
