Client: Lambeth Council

Architect: Conran + Partners

114 – 118 Lower Marsh in Lambeth is a former bombed out plot that previously housed a local library in a series of portacabins.  The Library was moved in 2016 to a permanent location and the premises taken over to become the Waterloo Job Shop.

The proposal designed with Conran + Partners and working in collaboration with Lambeth Council will create a new heart for the local community and expand the use of the existing space.  A new 5 storey building has been proposed which will fit sympathetically within the streetscape, but also opens up access to the arches and theatre behind, to create a new vibrant square.  The development will provide a permanent home to community groups and will offer retail, café and small office units.  The rent generated from the development will ultimately provide Lambeth Council with a long term sustainable income from the site.
