Client: Urban Shelter

Architect: WATG

Queen Amina Gardens hotel and resort designed with WATG will create an entertainment centre in the heart of Kado district of Abuja which will be unrivalled in Nigeria.

The scheme incorporates a 250 key hotel, KidzMondo and Water Park, 6,000sqm conference centre, branded residential villas and retail offer.

Engenuiti is providing design services from concept through develop design stage. For scheme design we assessed the foul and surface water runoff for the proposed site and designed a below ground drainage network to meet the future needs of the development. Through meeting with the local authorities we were also able to incorporate their requirements into the design at an early stage.

The development is located next to a lake and as such the bank of the lake needed to be raised to avoid the development flooding during the wet season. Engenuiti evaluated the level requirements in this area and undertook a cut and fill analysis for the hotel site, taking on board the phasing of the overall scheme. This enabled the levels strategy for the development to be evaluated and enabled the client to quantify the amount of material to store on site and to import.

Our work with local consultants ensured a cost effective structural design in line with the local supply chain and material availability.
