Client: B&K Structures / Center Parks UK
Architect: Holder Mathias
Holder Mathias were commissioned to design two buildings at the heart of the new £95 million Woburn Forest Center Parcs in Bedfordshire.
Engenuiti undertook the advanced timber engineering for the Sub Tropical Swimming Paradise building. The structural frame was a series of 65m clear spanning glue-laminated timber arches sitting on cantilevered concrete buttresses high above the enclosed swimming pools below. The building rises to its highest point to the south with a dramatic glazed wall providing daylight deep into the building and offering magnificent views across the external pools and wild-water rapids to a lake and rising woodland.
Awarded Best Hotel and Tourism Resort at the MIPIM Awards 2015 and described as a "Center of Excellence" by the Sunday Times (1st June 2014).
